ମହାବଳ ବାଘ (Panthera tigris tigris), ସବୁଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ସଂଖ୍ୟାରେ ଦେଖାଯାଉଥିବା ବାଘ ପ୍ରଜାତି ଅଟେ । ଭାରତରେ ଏହାର ସଂଖ୍ୟା ୧୭୦୬-୧୯୦୯ ହୋଇଥିବାବେଳେ ବଙ୍ଗଳାଦେଶରେ ୪୪୦, ନେପାଳରେ ୧୬୩-୨୫୩ ଓ ଭୁଟାନରେ ଏମାନଙ୍କ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ୬୭-୮୧ ଅଟେ ।[୧][୨][୩][୪] ୨୦୧୦ ମସିହାଠାରୁ ଏହାକୁ ଏକ ବିପଦ ସଙ୍କୁଳ ପ୍ରଜାତି ଭାବେ IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) ଘୋଷଣା କରିଛି । ବାଘ, ଉଭୟ ବଙ୍ଗଳାଦେଶ ଓ ଭାରତର ଜାତୀୟ ପଶୁ ଅଟେ ।
