ଭେନଲାଫାକ୍ସିନ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Venlafaxine, ଏକ ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ଏଫେକ୍ସର/ Effexor) ଏକ ସେରୋଟୋନିନ-ନରଏପିନେଫ୍ରିନ ରିଅପଟେକ ଇନହିବିଟର (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor/ SNRI) ଶ୍ରେଣୀର ଏକ ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ ଔଷଧ ।^[୪] ପ୍ରମୁଖ ଅବସାଦ ବେମାରୀ/ MDD), ଜେନେରାଲାଇଜଡ ଅଙ୍ଗଜାଇଟି ଡିଜଅର୍ଡ଼ର (generalized anxiety disorder/ GAD), ପ୍ୟାନିକ ଡିଜ‌ଅର୍ଡ଼ର ଓ ସୋସିଆଲ ଫୋବିଆ (social phobia) ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ରୋଗମାନଙ୍କ ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୪] ପାଟିରେ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ^[୪]

ଭେନଲାଫାକ୍ସିନର ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅରୁଚି, କୋଷ୍ଠକାଠିନ୍ୟ, ଶୁଷ୍କ ପାଟି, ଓଜନିଆ ମୁଣ୍ଡ, ଝାଳ ବୋହିବା ଓ ଯୌନ ସମସ୍ୟା ଆଦି ଦେଖାଯାଏ ।^[୪] ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ସାଂଘାତିକ ହେଲେ ଆତ୍ମହତ୍ୟା ସଙ୍କଟ, ମାନିଆ (mania) ଓ ସେରୋଟୋନିନ ସିଣ୍ଡ୍ରୋମ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୪] ଔଷଧ ହଠାତ ବନ୍ଦ କରିଦେଲେ ଆଣ୍ଟିଡିପ୍ରେସାଣ୍ଟ ଉଇଥଡ୍ରଆଲ ସିଣ୍ଡ୍ରୋମ (Antidepressant withdrawal syndrome) ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୪] ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାର ଶେଷ ଭାଗରେ ଏହା ଦେଲେ ଶିଶୁର କ୍ଷତି ହୋଇପାରେ । ^[୪] ଏହାର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟବିଧି ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ନହେଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ମସ୍ତିଷ୍କର ନିଉରୋଟ୍ରାନ୍ସମିଟରରେ (neurotransmitter) ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ଯୋଗୁ ହେଉଥିବା ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରାଯାଏ ।^[୪]

ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ସନ ୧୯୯୩ରେ ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ଭେନଲାଫାକ୍ସିନ ସ୍ୱୀକୃତ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୪] ଏହା ଜେନେରିକ ଔଷଧ ନାମରେ (generic medication) ବିକ୍ରୟ ହୁଏ ।^[୪] ସନ ୨୦୧୮ରେ ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ଏକ ଡୋଜର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୦.୨୦ ଡଲାରରୁ କମ୍ ଥିଲା ।^[୫] ସନ ୨୦୧୬ରେ ଏହାର ୧୫ ନିୟୁତ ପ୍ରେସକ୍ରିପସନ ହୋଇ ସର୍ବାଧିକ ପ୍ରେସକ୍ରିପସନ ତାଲିକାରେ ୫୧ତମ ସ୍ଥାନ ଅଧିକାର କରିଥିଲା ।^[୬]
