ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅଇ, ଆଲର୍ଜି ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା (allergic reactions) ଓ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ନେବା ସ୍ଥଳରେ ପ୍ରଦାହ ଆଦି ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ କ୍ଲସ୍ଟ୍ରିଡିଅମ ଡିଫିସିଓ ତରଳ ଝାଡ଼ା ହୋଇପାରେ । ପେନିସିଲିନ penicillin ପ୍ରତି ଆନାଫାଇଲାକ୍ସିସ ଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଦିଆଯାଏ ନାହିଁ ।^[୧] ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥା ଓ ସ୍ତନ୍ୟପାନ ସମୟରେ ଏହା ଅପେକ୍ଷାକୃତ ନିରାପଦ ଥାଏ ।^[୧]^[୨] ଏହା ତୃତୀୟ ପିଢ଼ିର ସେଫାଲୋସ୍ପୋରିନ third-generation cephalosporin ପରିବାରର ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ଜୀବାଣୁର ଜୀବକୋଷ ଆବରଣରେ ବାଧା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରେ ।^[୧]
