ବ୍ୟୁପ୍ରୋପିଅନ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Bupropion, ଏକ ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ୱେଲବୁଟ୍ରିନ Wellbutrin ଓ ଜାଇବାନ/ Zyban) ଏକ ଔଷଧ (medication) ଯାହା ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ (antidepressant) ଓ ଧୂମ୍ରପାନ ବନ୍ଦ କରିବା (smoking cessation) ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ପ୍ରୟୋଗ କରାଯାଏ ।^[୮] ଏହା ସ୍ୱୟଂ ଏକ ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ ଔଷଧ ଓ ପ୍ରଥମ ଧାଡ଼ିର ଏସଏସଆରସି ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ (SSRI antidepressant) ଔଷଧ କାମ ନ‌କଲେ ଏହାକୁ ତା ସାଥିରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୮]^[୯] ଏହା ବଟିକା ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ଓ ଅଧିକାଂଶ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ ପ୍ରେସକ୍ରିପସନରେ ମିଳେ । ^[୮]

ବ୍ୟୁପ୍ରୋପିଅନର ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଶୁଷ୍କ ପାଟି, ନିଦ୍ରା ସମସ୍ୟା, ମୁଣ୍ଡ ବିନ୍ଧା ଓ ଉତ୍ତେଜନା ହୋଇପାରେ । ^[୮] ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ସାଂଘାତିକ ହେଲେ ଅଧିକ ବାତ ବା ସିଜର ସଙ୍କଟ (risk for epileptic seizures) ଓ ଆତ୍ମହତ୍ୟା ପ୍ରବଣତା ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୮] ବାତ ସଙ୍କଟ ଯୋଗୁ ଏହାକୁ ମାର୍କେଟରୁ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାହୃତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ଓ ପରେ ଏହାର ମାତ୍ରା କମ୍ କରିବା ପରେ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଆସିଲା ।^[୧୦] ଅନ୍ୟ ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ ଔଷଧ ଭଳି ଏହାର ଯୌନ (sexual dysfunction) ଓ ନିଦ୍ରାଳୁ ଭାବ (sleepiness) ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ କିନ୍ତୁ ଓଜନ ହ୍ରାସ (weight loss) ହୋଇପାରେ । ^[୧୦] ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥା ଓ ସ୍ତନ୍ୟପାନ ସମୟରେ ଏହାର ନିରାପତ୍ତା ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ହୋଇନାହିଁ ।^[୮]^[୧୧]

ବ୍ୟୁପ୍ରୋପିଅନ କେତେକ ଭିନ୍ନ ଭିନ୍ନ ଜୈବିକ ଟାର୍ଗେଟକୁ (biological target) ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ଷମ ହୁଏ ।^[୧୦]^[୧୨] ଏହା ଏକ ନରଏପିନେଫ୍ରିନ-ଡୋପାମିନ ରିଅପଟେକ ଇନହିବିଟର (norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor|/ NDRI) ଓ ନିକୋଟିନିକ ରିସେପ୍ଟର ଆଣ୍ଟାଗୋନିସ୍ଟ (nicotinic receptor antagonist) ।^[୧୨]^[୧୩] ଏହା ଏକ ପ୍ରକାର ଅସ୍ୱାଭାବିକ ଅବସାଦରୋଧୀ (atypical antidepressant) ଔଷଧ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପୃଥକ୍ ।^[୧୪] ରାସାୟନ ଅନୁସାରେ ବ୍ୟୁପ୍ରୋପିଅନ ଏକ ଆମିନୋକିଟୋନ (aminoketone) ଯାହା ଫେନିଥିଲାମିନ (phenethylamine) ଭଳି ଏକ ସବସ୍ଟିଚ୍ୟୁଟେଡ କାଥିନୋନ (en:substituted cathinone) ଶ୍ରେଣୀର (class) ଔଷଧ ।^[୧]^[୧୫]
