ଏଥିଓନାମାଇଡ (ଇଂରଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Ethionamide) ଏକ ଆଣ୍ଟିବାୟୋଟିକ ଯାହା ଯକ୍ଷ୍ମା ରୋଗର ଚିକିତ୍ସା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରାଯାଏ । ଏହା ବିଶେଷତଃ ବ‌ହୁ ଔଷଧ ପ୍ରତିରୋଧୀ ଯକ୍ଷ୍ମା (multidrug-resistant tuberculosis) ରୋଗରେ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଯକ୍ଷ୍ମା ବିରୋଧୀ ଔଷଧ (antituberculosis medications) ସ‌ହିତ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ^[୨] କୁଷ୍ଠ ରୋଗରେ ଏହା ଆଉ ଦିଆଯାଉ ନାହିଁ । ^[୩]^[୨] ଏହି ଔଷଧକୁ ପାଟିରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୨]

ଏଥିଓନାମାଇଡର ଅତ୍ୟଧିକ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ଅଛି ।^[୪] ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅଇ, ତରଳ ଝାଡ଼ା, ପେଟ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା (abdominal pain) ଓ ଅରୁଚି ଆଦି ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ସାଂଘାତିକ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ହେପାଟାଇଟିସ ଓ ଅବସାଦ ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ଯକୃତ ସମସ୍ୟା (liver problems) ଥିଲେ ଏହା ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରିବା ଉଚିତ ନୁହେଁ । ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଏହାର ନିରାପତ୍ତା ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଜ୍ଞାତ ଅଛି । ^[୨] ଏଥିଓନାମାଇଡ ଏକ ଥାଇଓମାଇଡ (thioamides) ଶ୍ରେଣୀର ଔଷଧ । ଏହା ମାଇକୋଲିକ (mycolic acid) ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାରରେ ବାଧା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରି କାମ କରେ ।^[୫]

ଏଥିଓନାମାଇଡ ସନ ୧୯୫୬ରେ ଆବିଷ୍କୃତ ହୋଇ ସନ ୧୯୬୫ରେ ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ସ୍ୱୀକୃତିପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେଲା ।^[୫]^[୨] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ । ^[୬] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ମାସର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୫.୯୪ରୁ ୨୪.୧୨ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୭]
