ଲିଭୋଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Levothyroxine ବା L-thyroxine) ଏକ ପ୍ରକାର ଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ (ଟି_୪) ଯାହା ଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ ହରମୋନରୁ (thyroid hormone) ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରାଯାଏ । ^[୩]^[୪] ଏହା ହାଇପୋଥାଇରଏଡିଜ୍ମ (ଥାଇରଏଡ ହରମୋନ ଅଭାବ) ରୋଗ ଓ ଏହାର ସାଂଘାତିକ ଆକାରରେ ହେଉଥିବା ମିକ୍ସିଡିମା କୋମାରେ (myxedema coma) ଦିଆଯାଏ । କେତେକ ପ୍ରକାରର ଥାଇରଏଡ ଅର୍ବୁଦ (thyroid tumors) ରୋଗମାନଙ୍କର ପ୍ରତିଷେଧ ଓ ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଓଜନ ହାନୀ weight loss ହେଉଥିଲେ ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଏନାହିଁ । ଲିଭୋଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ ପାଟିରେ ବା ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତରରେ (injection into a vein) ଦିଆଯାଏ । ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ମାତ୍ରାର ଔଷଧର ସର୍ବାଧିକ ପ୍ରଭାବ ଆସିବାକୁ ୬ ସପ୍ତାହ ଲାଗିପାରେ ।^[୩]

ଲିଭୋଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ ମାତ୍ରା ଅତ୍ୟଧିକ ହୋଇଗଲେ ଓଜନ ହାନୀ, ଉତ୍ତାପ ଅସ‌ହ୍ୟତା, ଝାଳ, ଉତ୍କଣ୍ଠା, ନିଦ୍ରା ସମସ୍ୟା ଓ ଦୃତ ହୃତ୍‌ପିଣ୍ଡ ଗତି (fast heart rate) ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ଲକ୍ଷଣ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ । ସଦ୍ୟ ହୃଦ୍‌ଘାତ ଭୋଗିଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଦିଆଯାଏନାହିଁ । ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଏହା ନିରାପଦ ଜଣାଯାଏ । ନିୟମିତ ରକ୍ତର ଟିଏସଏଚ ଓ ଟି୪ ମାତ୍ରା ମାପ କରି ସେହି ଅନୁସାରେ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଏହି ଲିଭୋଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ ଦେହରେ ଟ୍ରାଇଆୟୋଡୋଥାଇରୋନିନକୁ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତିତ ହୁଏ ଓ ତା ପରେ ପ୍ରଭାବ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ ।^[୩]

ଲିଭୋଥାଇରକ୍ସିନ ପ୍ରଥମେ ସନ ୧୯୨୭ରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୪] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୫] ଏହା ଜେନେରିକ ନାମରେ (generic medication) ବିକ୍ରୟ ହୁଏ ।^[୩] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ମାସର ଡୋଜର କ୍ରୟ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୦.୫୮ରୁ ୧୨.୨୮ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୬] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ଏହାର ଏକ ମାସ ଡୋଜର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୨୫ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର । ^[୭]
