A reader is someone who visits Wikipedia articles to read rather than edit the content. Editors, often referred to as Wikipedians if logged in, also read Wikipedia of course, but as well as reading they also edit the pages to help build the encyclopaedia.
Wikipedia currently has ୧୮,୭୧୧ articles that are edited by ୫୮ active editors. Therefore, as an encyclopaedia used as a reference source by readers – and the majority of visitors are in fact readers – it is important that pages and articles are optimised for this readership.
