ଆଇଭର୍‌ମେକ୍ଟିନ୍ ଔଷଧ ଅନେକ ପ୍ରକାରର ପରଜୀବୀ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କାମ କରେ ।^[୧] ମୁଣ୍ଡ ଉକୁଣୀ,^[୨] କାଛୁ,^[୩], ନ‌ଦୀ ଅନ୍ଧତ୍ୱ,^[୪] ସ୍ଟ୍ରଙ୍ଗିଲଏଡିଆସିସ୍^[୫] ଓ ଫାଇଲେରିଆ ରୋଗ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୬] ଏହା ଚର୍ମରେ ଲଗେଇଦିଆଯାଏ ବା ପାଟିରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଆଖିଠାରୁ ଦୂରରେ ରଖିବେ । ^[୨]

ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଯୋଗୁ ଲାଲ ଆଖି, ଶୁଖିଲା ଚମ ଓ ଚର୍ମ ଜ୍ୱାଳା ଭଳି ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ହୁଏ ।^[୨] ଗର୍ଭବସ୍ଥାରେ ଏହାର ନିରାପତ୍ତା ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ନୁହେଁ, କିନ୍ତୁ ସ୍ତନ୍ୟପାନ ସମୟରେ ଠିକ୍ ଥିବା ଜଣାଯାଏ ।^[୭] ଅମେରୁଦଣ୍ଡୀ ପ୍ରାଣୀଙ୍କ କୋଷିକା ପ୍ରାଚୀରକୁ ସୁଭେଦୀ କରିଦେବା ଫଳରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ହୁଏ । ଏହା ଆଭର୍‌ମେକ୍ଟିନ୍ ଶ୍ରେଣୀର ଔଷଧ । ^[୨]

ସନ ୧୯୭୫ରେ ଏହା ଆବିଷ୍କୃତ ହେବା ପରେ ସନ ୧୯୮୧ରେ ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରାଗଲା ।^[୬]^[୮] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୯] ଏହାର ଗୋଟିଏ କୋର୍ସ ଚିକିତ୍ସା ନିମନ୍ତେ ୦.୧୨ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ଖର୍ଚ୍ଚ ହୁଏ ।^[୧୦] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ଏହା ବାବଦ ୨୫ରୁ ୫୦ ଡଲାର ଖର୍ଚ୍ଚ ହୁଏ ।^[୫] ପଶୁମାନଙ୍କର ହାର୍ଟ‌ୱର୍ମ ପ୍ରତିଷେଧ ଓ ଚିକିତ୍ସା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୧]
