ମିଥାଇଲଡୋପା (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Methyldopa, ଏକ ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ଆଲଡୋମେଟ /Aldomet) ଏକ ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ଉଚ୍ଚ ରକ୍ତଚାପ (high blood pressure) ରୋଗ ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥା ଉଚ୍ଚ ରକ୍ତଚାପରେ high blood pressure in pregnancy ଏହା ସବୁଠାରୁ ପସନ୍ଦ‌ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ଔଷଧ । ଅତ୍ୟୁଚ୍ଚ ଲକ୍ଷଣ‌ଯୁକ୍ତ ରକ୍ତଚାପ (very high blood pressure resulting in symptoms) ଥିଲେ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଔଷଧ ପସନ୍ଦ କରାଯାଏ । ଏହା ପାଟିରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ବା ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତର ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଔଷଧର ପ୍ରଭାବ ୫ ଘଣ୍ଟା ପରେ ଆସେ ଓ ପ୍ରାୟ ଗୋଟିଏ ଦିନ ରହେ । ^[୧]

ଏହି ଔଷଧ ସେବନରେ ବ‌ହୁତ ନିଦ ଲାଗେ । ସାଂଘାତିକ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଲୋହିତ ରକ୍ତ କଣିକା ଫାଟିଯାଏ (red blood cell breakdown), ଯକୃତ ସମସ୍ୟା ହୁଏ ଓ ଆଲର୍ଜି ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା (allergic reactions) ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ଆଲଫା-୨ ଆଡ୍ରେନର୍ଜିକ ରିସେପ୍ଟର ଆଗୋନିସ୍ଟ alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist ଶ୍ରେଣୀର ମିଥାଇଲଡୋପା ଏକ ଔଷଧ । ସିମ୍ପାଥେଟିକ ସ୍ନାୟୁ ମଣ୍ଡଳର (sympathetic nervous system) କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କମେଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମିଥାଇଲଡୋପା ମସ୍ତିଷ୍କ‌କୁ ଉତ୍ତେଜିତ କରେ ।^[୧]

ମିଥାଇଲଡୋପା ସନ ୧୯୬୦ରେ ଆବିଷ୍କୃତ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୨] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୩] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ମାସ ଡୋଜର କ୍ରୟ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୪.୩୧ରୁ ୯.୪୮ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୪] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ଏହାର ଏକ ମାସ ଡୋଜର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୨୫ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାରରୁ କମ୍ ।^[୫]
