ଭାରତୀୟ ନୌସେନା ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ରୟାଲ ଇଣ୍ଡିଆନ ନେଭୀ ନାମରେ ପରିଚିତ ଥିଲା । ଏହାର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାର ଜାହାଜ ସବୁ ଥିଲା । ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପରେ ସମୁଦ୍ର ତଟ ରକ୍ଷ୍ୟା କରିବାକୁ ବୁଡା ଜାହାଜ ସମେତ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରକାର ପୋତ ଭାରତୀୟ ନୌସେନା ଅଧୀନରେ ରହିଛି । ଏଠାରେ ତାହାର ଏକ ତାଲିକା ପ୍ରଦାନ କରାଗଲା । ( ଏହି ତାଲିକା ଅସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ ହେଇଥାଇ ପାରେ । ତାକୁ ସମପୁରନା କରିବାକୁ ଆପଣ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିପାରନ୍ତି )

[ସମ୍ପାଦନା]ନୋଟ : ୧୯୫୦ ମସିହା ଆଗରୁ ଭାରତୀୟ ନୌସେନାର ଜାହାଜମାନଙ୍କ ନାମ ଆଗରେ HMIS ( His Majesty's Indian Ship ) ଲହୁଥିଲା କାରଣ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ଆଗରୁ ଭାରତୀୟ ସେନା ବାହିନୀ ବ୍ରିଟିଶ ସାମ୍ଭ୍ରାଜ୍ୟର ସେନା ବାହିନୀର ଅଂଶ ଭାବରେ ଥିଲା । ତେବେ ୧୯୫୦ ମସିହାରେ ଭାରତ ଗଣରାଜ୍ୟ ଭାବରେ ଘୋଷିତ ହେଇ ନୂତନ ସମ୍ବିଧାନ ଲାଗୁ ହେବାପରେ ଏହି ପୂର୍ବ ନାମକୁ INS ( " Indian Naval Ship" ) କରାଗଲା ।
