ଇଣ୍ଟ୍ରାଭେନସ ସୋଡ଼ିଅମ ବାଇକାର୍ବୋନେଟ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Intravenous sodium bicarbonate, ଅନ୍ୟ ନାମ ସୋଡ଼ିଅମ ହାଇଡ୍ରୋଜେନ କାର୍ବୋନେଟ/sodium hydrogen carbonate) ଏକ ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ବଶେଷତଃ ସାଂଘାତିକ ମେଟାବୋଲିକ ଏସିଡୋସିସ (metabolic acidosis) ରୋଗରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଏ ।[୧] ତରଳ ଝାଡ଼ା, ବାନ୍ତି (vomiting) ବା ରେନାଲ ଟ୍ୟୁବୁଲାର ଏସିଡୋସିସ (kidneys) ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ରୋଗ ଯୋଗୁ ରକ୍ତର ପିଏଚ (pH) ୭.୧ରୁ କମ ଥିଲେ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।[୨] ଅଧିକ ରକ୍ତ ପୋଟାସିଅମ (high blood potassium), ଟ୍ରାଇସାକ୍ଲିକ ଆଣ୍ଟିଡିପ୍ରେସାଣ୍ଟ ଓଭରଡୋଜ (tricyclic antidepressant overdose) ଓ କୋକେନ ଟକ୍ସିସିଟି (cocaine toxicity) ଭଳି ଅନ୍ୟ କେତେକ ବିଷକ୍ରିୟାରେ (poisoning) ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଇପାରେ ।[୧][୩][୪] ଏହା ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତର ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ (injection into a vein) ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।[୨]
ଏହାର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅଳ୍ପ ରକ୍ତ ପଟାସିଅମ (low blood potassium), ଅଧିକ ରକ୍ତ ସୋଡ଼ିଅମ (high blood sodium) ଓ ଇଡିମା (swelling) ହୋଇପାରେ ।[୧][୪] ଅଳ୍ପ ରକ୍ତ କ୍ୟାଲସିଅମ (low blood calcium) ଥିଲେ ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଏନାହିଁ । ଏହା ଆଲକାଲିନାଇଜିଙ୍ଗ ଏଜେଣ୍ଟ (alkalinizing) ଔଷଧ ପରିବାରର ଏକ ସଦସ୍ୟ । ଏହା ରକ୍ତ ବାଇକାର୍ବୋନେଟ (bicarbonate) ବୃଦ୍ଧି କରିବାଦ୍ୱାରା ଅଧିକ ହାଇଡ୍ରୋଜେନ ଆୟନମାନଙ୍କୁ (hydrogen ion) ବଫର (buffers) କରି ରକ୍ତ ପିଏଚ (blood pH) ବୃଦ୍ଧି କରିବାରେ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରେ । [୫]
ବେପାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ସୋଡ଼ିଅମ ବାଇକାର୍ବୋନେଟ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତି ସନ ୧୭୯୧ରୁ ୧୮୨୩ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହେଲା ।[୬] ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତର ଚିକିତ୍ସା ବ୍ୟବହାର ସନ ୧୯୫୦ରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରାଗଲା ।[୪] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।[୭] ଏହା ଜେନେରିକ ଔଷଧ ନାମରେ (generic medication) ବିକ୍ରୟ ହୁଏ ।[୫] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ୮.୪%ସଲ୍ୟୁସନର ୧୦ମ:ଲି: ବୋତଲର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୦.୦୯ରୁ ୨.୫୮ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।[୮] ସଂଯୁକ୍ତ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ୧୧.୧୦ ପାଉଣ୍ଡ । [୨]
