ଗ୍ଲୁଟାରାଲଡିହାଇଡ Glutaraldehyde, ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ଗ୍ଲୁଟେରାଲ ) ଏକ ଡିସଇନଫେକ୍ଟାଣ୍ଟ (disinfectant ) ଓ ଔଷଧ । [୩][୪] ଏହାଦ୍ୱାରା ଅପରେଶନ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରପାତି ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ଜୀବାଣୁମୁକ୍ତ ବା ସ୍ଟେରିଲାଇଜ (surgical instruments) କରାଯାଏ ।[୩] ପାଦରେ ହେଉଥିବା ଭାତୁଡ଼ିରେ (warts on the bottom of the feet|) ଏହା ଔଷଧ ଭାବରେ ଲଗାଯାଏ ।[୪] ଏହା ତରଳ ପଦାର୍ଥ ଆକାରରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଏ । [୩]
ଏହାର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଚର୍ମ ଜଳାପୋଡ଼ା ହୁଏ ।[୪] ବେଶୀ ପରିମାଣ ସଂସ୍ପର୍ଶରେ ଆସିଲେ ଅଇ, ମୁଣ୍ଡବଥା ଓ ଅଣନିଶ୍ୱାସୀ ଲାଗେ ।[୩] ବ୍ୟବହାର କଲାବେଳେ ସୁରକ୍ଷାକାରୀ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରପାତି (Protective equipment) ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ପଡ଼ିପାରେ । ଅନେକ ଅଣୁଜୀବ (microorganisms) ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ସ୍ପୋର (spores) ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଏହା କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀ ହୁଏ ।[୩][୫] ଏହା ଅନେକ ଉପାୟରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ଷମ ହୁଏ ।[୫]
ସନ ୨୯୬୦ରୁ ଗ୍ଲୁଟାରାଲଡିହାଇଡ ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଗଲା ।[୬] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।[୭] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ଲିଟର ୨% ତରଳ ପଦାର୍ଥରକ୍ରୟ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୧.୫୦ରୁ ୭.୪୦ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।[୮] ଏହା ଅନେକ ବ୍ରାଣ୍ଡ ନାମରେ ବିକ୍ରୟ ହୁଏ ଯେପରି ସାଇଡେକ୍ସ ।[୯] ଚମଡ଼ା ଟାନିଙ୍ଗ (leather tanning) ଭଳି ଅନେକ ବ୍ୟବସାୟରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହା ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଏ ।[୧୦]
