ହସ୍ତ ଶୁଚିରକ୍ଷାକାରୀ ବା ହ୍ୟାଣ୍ଡ ସାନିଟାଇଜର (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Hand sanitizer) ଏକ ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ଥିବା ପଦାର୍ଥ ଯାହା ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିମାନଙ୍କର ହାତଧୁଆ (hand washing) ନିମନ୍ତେ ସାବୁନ ଓ ପାଣି ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଅଧିକ ପସନ୍ଦ‌ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ।^[୨] ଅଣୁଜୀବ (microorganisms) ମାରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହା ଅଧିକ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ଓ ସାବୁନପାଣି ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଅଧିକ ସ‌ହନୀୟ । ^[୩] ମଳତ୍ୟାଗ ବା ପାଇଖାନା (toilet) ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର ପରେ ଦୁଷିତ ହେବା ସମ୍ଭାବନା ଥିଲେ ହାତଧୁଆଯାଇପାରେ ।^[୪] ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ନଥିବା ପଦାର୍ଥ ସାଧାରଣ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରିବାକୁ ସୁପାରିସ କରାଯାଏନାହିଁ ।^[୨] ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ବ୍ୟତୀତ ଅନ୍ୟ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ହାତ ଧୁଆ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ହ୍ୟାଣ୍ଡ ସାନିଟାଇଜର ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର ଫଳପ୍ରଦ ହେଉଥିବାର ପ୍ରମାଣ ମିଳୁନାହିଁ ।^[୫]^[୬] ଏହା ତରଳ ପଦାର୍ଥ, ଜେଲ ଓ ଫୋମ ଆକାରରେ ମିଳେ ।^[୩]

ଆଲକ‌ହଲ-ବେସ ସଂସ୍କରଣରେ ଆଇସୋପ୍ରୋପାଇଲ ଆଲକ‌ହଲ (isopropyl alcohol), ଇଥାନଲ (ethanol) ବା ପ୍ରୋପାନଲ (n-propanol) ମିଶ୍ରଣ ଥାଏ । ୬୦%ରୁ ୯୫% ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ଥିବା ପଦାର୍ଥ ସର୍ବାପେକ୍ଷା ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ।^[୩] ଏହା ଜ୍ୱଳନକ୍ଷମ (flammable) ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ଯତ୍ନଶୀଳ ହେବା ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ।^[୨] ଆଲକ‌‌ହଲ ବେସ୍ ଥିବା ପଦାର୍ଥ ଅନେକ ପ୍ରକାରର ଅଣୁଜୀବ (microorganisms)ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କାମ କରେ କିନ୍ତୁ ସ୍ପୋର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ନୁହେଁ ।^[୩] କେତେକ ସଂସ୍କରଣରେ ଚର୍ମ ନଶୁଖିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଗ୍ଲିସେରଲ (glycerol) ଦିଆଯାଇଥାଏ ।^[୩] ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ନଥିବା ସଂସ୍କରଣରେ ବେଞ୍ଜାଲକୋନିଅମ କ୍ଲୋରାଇଡ (benzalkonium chloride) ବା ଟ୍ରାଇକ୍ଲୋସାନ (triclosan) ଥାଇପାରେ ।^[୭]^[୮]

ଆଣ୍ଟିସେପ୍ଟିକ ଭାବରେ ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ସନ ୧୩୬୩ରୁ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର ହୋଇଆସୁଛି କିନ୍ତୁ ୧୮୦୦ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ଶେଷ ଭାଗରେ ଏହାର ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାରର ପ୍ରମାଣ ମିଳିଥିଲା ।^[୯] ସନ ୧୯୮୦ରୁ ୟୁରୋପରେ ଏହା ସାଧାରଣ ଭାବରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହୃତ ହେଉଛି ।^[୧୦] ଏହାର ଆଲକ‌ହଲ ବେସ୍‌ର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୧୧] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ବୋତଲର ହୋଲସେଲ କ୍ରୟ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୧.୪୦ରୁ ୩.୭୦ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୧୨]^[୪]
