କ୍ଲୋରୋକ୍ସିଲେନୋଲ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Chloroxylenol, ଅନ୍ୟ ନାମ ପାରା-କ୍ଲୋତୋ-ମେଟା-ଜାଇଲେନୋଲ/ para-chloro-meta-xylenol ବା PCMX), ଏକ ଆଣ୍ଟିସେପ୍ଟିକ (antiseptic) ଓ ଡିସଇନଫେକ୍ଟାଣ୍ଟ (disinfectant) ଯାହା ଅପରେଶନ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରପାତି (surgical instruments) ପରିଷ୍କାର ଓ ଚର୍ମ ଡିସଇନଫେକସନ (skin disinfection) କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଏ ।[୨] ଏହା ଅନେକଗୁଡ଼ିଏ ଘରୋଇ ଡିସଇନଫେକ୍ଟାଣ୍ଟ ଓ କ୍ଷତ (wound) ସଫାକାରକ ପଦାର୍ଥରେ ଥାଏ । [୩] ଏହା ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ କେତେକ ଏହି ଧରଣର ଏଜେଣ୍ଟଠାରୁ ଅଳ୍ପ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ।[୪][୫] ଏହା ଏକ ତରଳ ପଦାର୍ଥ ଆକାରରେ ମିଳେ । [୨]
ଏହାର ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟ ଅତି ଅଳ୍ପ ଥାଏ ଓ ଚର୍ମ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ଦେଖାଯାଇପାରେ ।[୨][୪] ଏହା ସାଥୀରେ ପାଣି ବା ଆଲକୋହୋଲ (alcohol) ମିଶେଇ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଇପାରେ ।[୨] ଏହା ଗ୍ରାମ ପଜିଟିଭ ଜୀବାଣୁ (Gram-positive bacteria) ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ହୁଏ ।[୨] ଜୀବାଣୁମାନଙ୍କର କୋଷାବରଣ (cell wall) ଭାଙ୍ଗିଦିଏ ଓ ଏଞ୍ଜାଇମ (enzymes) କାମକୁ ବନ୍ଦ କରିଦିଏ ।[୫]
କ୍ଲୋରୋକ୍ସିଲେନୋଲ ପ୍ରଥମେ ସନ ୧୯୨୭ରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ।[୬] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।[୭] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ୫% ଲିଟର ତରଳ ପଦାର୍ଥର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୨.୦୦ରୁ ୬.୨୦ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।[୮] ଏହାକୁ ଅନେକ ନାମରେ ବିଭନ୍ନ କମ୍ପାନୀ ବିକ୍ରୟ କରନ୍ତି ଓ ଡେଟଲ ଏମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ।[୩][୯]
