ମଣିଷର କାମକୁ ସହଜ କରୁଥିବା ବା ମଣିଷ କରି ପାରୁନଥିବା କାମକୁ କରୁଥିବା ବସ୍ତୁକୁ ଯନ୍ତ୍ର କୁହାଯାଏ। ଯନ୍ତ୍ର ସାଧାରଣତଃ ସ୍ଥିର କିମ୍ବା ଗତିଶୀଳ । ଗୋଟିଏ ସରଳ ଯନ୍ତ୍ର ସାଧାରଣତଃ କୌଣସି ବଳର ଦିଗ କିମ୍ବା ପରିମାଣକୁ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରି କାମ କରିଥାଏ। ଗାଡ଼ି, କମ୍ପ୍ୟୁଟର୍, ଟେଲିଭିଜନ୍, ରେଡିଓ ପରି ଜଟିଳ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରମାନେ ଅନେକ ସରଳ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରର ସମାହାର ।
