ନିଓସ୍ଟିଗମିନ (ଇଂରାଜୀରେ Neostigmine, ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟିଗମିନ, ଏକ ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ମ୍ୟାସ୍ଥେନିଆ ଗ୍ରାଭିସ, ଓଗିଲଭି ସିଣ୍ଡ୍ରୋମ (Ogilvie syndrome) ଓ ଅବରୋଧ ନ ଥାଇ ମୂତ୍ରରୋଧ (urinary retention) ରୋଗମାନଙ୍କର ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୧]^[୨] ନନ୍ ଡିପୋଲାରାଜିଙ୍ଗ (non-depolarizing) ଟାଇପର ନିଉରୋମସ୍କୁଲାର ବ୍ଲକିଙ୍ଗ ମେଡିକେସନର (neuromuscular blocking medication) ପ୍ରଭାବକୁ ଇତି କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଆଟ୍ରୋପିନ (atropine) ସ‌ହିତ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଏହା ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତରରେ (into a vein), ମାଂସପେଶୀରେ (muscle) ବା ଚର୍ମତଳେ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ (under the skin) ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଦେବାର ୩୦ ମିନିଟ ପରେ ସର୍ବାଧିକ ପ୍ରଭାବ ହୁଏ ଓ ୪ ଘଣ୍ଟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପ୍ରଭାବ ରହେ ।^[୧]

ନିଓସ୍ଟିଗମିନର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅଇ, ଅଧିକ ଲାଳ ବୋହିବା, ପେଟରେ କ୍ରାମ୍ପ ହେବା ଓ ଧୀର ହୃଦ୍‌ଗତି (slow heart rate) ଆଦି ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ସାଂଘାତିକ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ନିମ୍ନ ରକ୍ତଚାପ (low blood pressure), ଦୁର୍ବଳତା ଓ ଆଲର୍ଜି ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା (allergic reactions) ହୋଇପାରେ । ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଶିଶୁ ପ୍ରତି ଏହାର ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ବିଷୟ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଭାବରେ ଅନୁଶୀଳନ ହୋଇନାହିଁ । ନିଓସ୍ଟିଗମିନ ଏକ କଲିନର୍ଜିକ (cholinergic) ଶ୍ରେଣୀର ଔଷଧ । ଆସେଟାଇଲକଲିନଇସ୍ଟରେଜର acetylcholinesterase ପ୍ରଭାବକୁ ଏହା ଅବରୋଧ କରି ଆସେଟାଇଲକୋଲିନ (acetylcholine) ମାତ୍ରା କମେଇଦିଏ । ^[୧]

ସନ ୧୯୩୧ରେ ନିଓସ୍ଟିଗମିନ ପେଟେଣ୍ଟ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୩] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୪] ବିକାଶଶୀଳ ଦେଶମାନଙ୍କରେ (developing world) ଏହି ଔଷଧର ଏକ ଡୋଜର କ୍ରୟ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୦.୧୮ରୁ ୨.୬ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୫] ନିଓସ୍ଟିଗମିନ ଶବ୍ଦଟି ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ ଭାଷାର ନିଓ ଶବ୍ଦରୁ (ଅର୍ଥ ନୂଆ) ଓ ସ୍ଟିଗମିନ ଶବ୍ଦଟି ଫାଇସୋସ୍ଟିଗମିନ (physostigmine) ଶବ୍ଦରୁ ନିଆଯାଇଛି ।^[୬]
