୧୯୫୯ରେ 'ଶ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ମହାଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପୂଜା' କଥାଚିତ୍ରରୁ ଅଭିନୟ ଜୀବନ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିବା ପରେ "ଜୀବନସାଥୀ', "ସାଧନା', "ମାଟିର ମଣିଷ', "ଅରୁନ୍ଧତୀ' ପ୍ରଭୃତି ସିନେମାରେ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖନୀୟ ଅଭିନୟ କରି ସେ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରପତିଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ଅଭିନେତା ପୁରସ୍କାର ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ । ତାଙ୍କ ଅଭିନୀତ "କିଏ କାହାର' ସିନେମା କଟକ ସହରର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରେକ୍ଷାଳୟରେ ୧୦୦ଦିନ କ୍ରମାନ୍ଵୟରେ ଚାଲି ରେକର୍ଡ଼ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଥିଲା । ତାଙ୍କ ନିର୍ଦେଶିତ "ତଅପୋଇ', "ଅଶାନ୍ତ ଗ୍ରହ' ଓ "ଅସ୍ତରାଗ' କଥାଚିତ୍ର ଦର୍ଶକଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରିଥିଲା । ତାଙ୍କ ଅଭିନୀତ ଶେଷ କଥାଚିତ୍ର ଥିଲା ଗଦାଧର ପୁଟୀଙ୍କ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶିତ ପୂଜା ପାଇଁ ଫୁଲଟିଏ (୨୦୦୭)। ଏହି କଥାଚିତ୍ର ଜାତୀୟ ଓ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଜାତୀୟ ସ୍ତରରେ ବେଶ ସଫଳତା ହାସଲ କରିଥିଲା । "କା', "ଅନ୍ଧ ଦିଗନ୍ତ', "ଭୂଖା', "ଦୃଷ୍ଟି', "ଅରଣ୍ୟ ରୋଦନ', "ଆରଣ୍ୟକ', "ଶେଷଦୃଷ୍ଟି', "ସତମିଛ' ପ୍ରଭୃତି ପ୍ରାୟ ୫୦ରୁ ଊର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ଵ କଥାଚିତ୍ରରେ ଅଭିନୟ ସାଙ୍ଗକୁ ୩ଟି କଥାଚିତ୍ରର ନିର୍ଦେଶନା ତଥା ଅଧ୍ୟାପନା ଜୀବନରେ ୭୫ରୁ ଅଧିକ ନାଟକରେ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶନା ଦେଇଥିଲେ ।
